Delegates to The World Travel Internet Conference, held in conjunction with the World Travel Awards, took home the message that in today's travel tech environment, Content is King. The event, sponsored by Cable & Wireless and Amadeus e-Travel, took place on September 18th in Turks & Caicos. Deputy Premier, Floyd Hall highlighted the importance of technology and the urgent need for Caribbean destinations to embrace the Internet. He called the Internet "a great equaliser for the little guys" in the travel industry.

Tools ground Air India
Suspicious package not dangerous
A suspicious package that forced an Air India jet to return to Toronto late Monday was not an explosive device but a ``uniquely packaged'' set of tools, according to the police. The plane was about one hour into its flight, which was to include a scheduled stop in Birmingham, England, when a suspicious package was found in one of the washrooms. The captain was notified and the airplane was re-rerouted back to Toronto's Pearson International Airport shortly before midnight local time.

The readers of Condé Nast Traveller (UK) magazine voted it "Favourite Business Airline", while the readers of Business Traveller UK and Business Traveller Asia-Pacific magazines voted it "Best Middle Eastern Airline" and "Best Middle East/Africa Airline" respectively. "That's an example of the impressive dividends you can reap by focussing on your customers." Said Tim Clark, president Emirates Airline. UK tour operator First Choice Holidays PLC, has named Jerre Fuqua to head up its expanding operations in the US.  The company has broadened its US base by acquiring the Los Angeles-based YMT Vacations which offers tours to people in the 55 to 75 year age bracket - the "baby boomers to seniors market." The company says this is the highest growth demographic of the US population.
