itravel2000 acquired by UK firm
Travelzest pays $51.5 million in cash and shares

Travelzest plc, the British online travel group offering specialist travel programmes, announced today that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the entire issued share capital of itravel2000.com for a consideration of up to $51.5million which will be satisfied by cash and Exchangeable Shares. itravel2000.com is the largest independent online travel retailer in Canada. Sales are primarily made by internet web sites and a customer call centre located in Mississauga, Ontario. Travelzest chief executive, Chris Mottershead, is well known to the Canadian Travel industry as former president and CEO of the North American Leisure Group (NALG) now MyTravel. Mottershead left MyTravel joining rival TUI UK from 2001 to 2004.

The end of the line for BWIA
New regional airline replaces bankrupt carrier
The Government of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago has decided that after 66 years, British West Indies Airways (BWIA) will shut down on December 31 and a new regional airline will be created to take its place.
A 97% stakeholder in BWIA, the government has approved a substantial capital injection for the creation of a new regional airline, Caribbean Airlines based in Trinidad.

Bermuda spared direct hit
Florence knocks out power
Hurricane Florence bore down on Bermuda on Monday, knocking out power to thousands of homes and businesses as tourists who remained hunkered down inside resort hotels. At least 23,000 homes and businesses were without power in the British island chain of 65,000 permanent residents, according to Bermuda's electric company. The Category 1 hurricane, which had maximum sustained winds near 145 kilometres an hour, knocked down trees and utility poles but there were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.
