The weakening storm had dumped as much as 45 centimetres of rain on the Baja California peninsula, soaking fishing villages and threatening floods in parts of the U.S. Southwest. Possible rainfall of up to seven centimetres were anticipated in desert areas from Southern California to west Texas in the next few days and could cause some flooding.

| Andy Wells | For first time in 64 years, Newfoundland loses direct service to London. The last direct flight connecting Newfoundland to the British capital left Monday, signalling the first time the province will be without the transatlantic air service since the Second World War. Air Canada decided in May to cancel direct passenger and cargo flights from St. John's to London Heathrow because, the carrier said, the route wasn't profitable enough.
