A former jail in Boston's tony Beacon Hill district is getting a new lease on life as a 300-room luxury boutique hotel. Ironically named The Liberty Hotel, the US $120 million hotel project on Charles Street, is set to open next summer and will feature 10 luxury suites with views of the Charles River. Rooms will include flat-panel HD-LCD televisions and high-speed Wi-Fi Internet access. There are fitness facilities, a business center and considerable meeting space.The original granite building, which dates back to 1851, has been fully restored.

Travel Agency charged

Accepted bookings and payments despite suspended registration
Following an investigation, Baldwin Travel and Tours o/a Dynasty Travel ("Baldwin Travel") and Ms. Harjeet Davda have each been charged with one count of accepting bookings and payments from consumers for travel services after the registration of Baldwin Travel as a travel agent was suspended pursuant to subsection 10(1) of the Travel Industry Act, 2002. Ms. Davda is scheduled to make her first appearance on November 24, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Provincial Offences Court at Mississauga.

Climate concerns Branson
Virgin Atlantic chairman Sir Richard Branson is reportedly planning to convene a meeting of aviation industry leaders to discuss concerns over climate change. The conference is likely to call for more green taxes, including a possible 'carbon tax' on airlines, thought to be about £15 per ticket. As we reported last week, UK airlines are under fire due to the rapid growth in cheap flights and the rise in carbon dioxide emissions from aircraft.
