Discover the World Marketing has announced the appointment of Tami Brown to the position of area sales manager in Calgary. Brown formerly spent three years as product manager at Fun Sun Vacations. In addition to her prior position, Brown managed a wholesale company in Calgary, specializing in the South Pacific and was also Sales Manager for Holiday House in Southern Alberta. She has been an active participant in the travel industry in Southern Alberta. Brown will lead the Sales and Marketing for Frontier Airlines in Calgary.

Carnival Cruise Line's 2,056-passenger Fantasy embarked on a four-day cruise to Mexico yesterday afternoon from the new Erato Street Cruise Terminal in New Orleans. The cruise is part of the ship's year-round four- and five-day programme from the city. On the Fantasy's year-round schedule from New Orleans, four-day cruises depart Thursdays and call at Cozumel while five-day cruises depart Mondays and Saturdays and visit Cozumel and Costa Maya.

Moscow hotels are the most expensive in the world followed by New York and Boston. The Russian capital confirmed its status as the world's most expensive city, with room prices paid averaging $354 a night between April and June 2006 - despite prices falling 28% year-on-year. Second-placed New York averaged $297 - up 16% on the same period a year ago.  London is way down the list at number 19 with the average cost of a room night at $193.

bmi to suspend Mumbai operation

bmi have announced that the suspension of the Heathrow-Mumbai service will continue indefinitely. Due to ongoing technical problems with the Airbus A330 aircraft, bmi is cancelling additional flights on this service. bmi continues to have discussions with the manufacturer Airbus about the reasons for the technical failure, as well as the length of time to achieve its repair.Nigel Turner, bmi chief executive officer, said: "It is with great sadness and of personal disappointment to me, that we have been forced to make this very difficult decision. We have tried without success to locate a suitable replacement unit, but the uncertainty of the length of time we will be without the aircraft has also not helped the situation.

Etihad launches New York
Etihad Airways celebrated the official launch of its daily, non-stop, round-trip service between Abu Dhabi and New York yesterday  with the arrival of an Etihad A340-500 aircraft at JFK.  The launch of the route to the key US gateway city is the carrier's second North American destination, after Toronto, and heralds Etihad's long- awaited entrance into the American market.
Caribbean Star to Curacao
Caribbean Star Airlines has reinstated plans to offer new service to/from Curacao. The new daily service, between Trinidad and Curacao is on sale now, is for travel beginning Dec 1.
