| Duncan Bureau, Debbie Trockstad, Emmet Reidy | WestJet Vacations launched their new programme at the Delta Chelsea Hotel in Toronto last evening. It was a lively and spirited affair that was well attended by the travel agent community. Westjet’s suppliers were also out to support the airline/tour operator, as destinations, resorts, hotels and attractions all took part in the trade show.Emmet Reidy, director, national and leisure accounts kicked off the evening, introducing the “gaggle of WestJetters” that had come in for the event, before bringing WestJet vacations general manager, Brenda Trockstad to the podium.

| Aer Lingus rejects Ryanair bid |

“Offer without merit”
Aer Lingus is adamant in its rejection of a hostile takeover offer from Ryanair. The Irish carrier argued that the bid of €1.48 billion (approximately $2 billion) is still undervalued. The latest rebuff comes after Ryanair mailed documents to Aer Lingus shareholders detailing the formal terms of its offer. "The offer from Ryanair is without merit," said Aer Lingus chairman John Sharman in a company statement issued on Monday.

US holiday may be a turkey for travellers US air travellers won't have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. According to reports bookings are over 40% higher than last year and prices are heading up as well. Airfare is 15% more than a year ago, according to an analysis by consulting firm Sabre Airline Solutions. And if that’s not enough bad news, holiday travellers may not all be aware of the new baggage restrictions. Up to a third of passengers travelling every day do not meet the new requirements and hold up security lines at some US airports.
