Increases Aeroplan points to actual distance travelled

For Air Canada Vacations' passengers Aeroplan looks a lot better than it did last week. In an interview with TRAVELHotNews.com, ACV president, Ben Smith told us the tour company has added huge enhancements to its' Aeroplan programme. Until now, ACV has awarded only a fixed number of points to its holiday packages. Regardless of where they went on Air Canada Vacations, Aeroplan members received a flat 1000 Aeroplan points. Effective immediately, for travel as of November 1, everything changes. ACV will now award points based on the actual miles travelled - up to 7,700 Aeroplan miles per passenger.

SunWing's Reg Mendes, vice president, Florida division, met with TRAVELHotNews.com to talk about the company's programme to the Sunshine State this winter. Mendes is no stranger to the Florida market, he has been involved in the area for many years and knows as much about packaging and selling it as anyone in the business. Beginning this month, Sunwing began an extensive programme to Florida and, over the winter, expects to send 60,000 passengers to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, St. Petersburg / Clearwater and Daytona Beach. Flights will operate from St. John's, NL, Saint John NB, Toronto, Ottawa, Sudbury, ON and Montreal.

Discount cruise line EasyCruise, will soon be selling holidays on eBay. Users will be able to buy cruises on both an 'auction' and 'buy it now' basis via eBay sites in the UK, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, India, US and Australia. Auction prices will start at £1 ($2.10) in the UK, 'buy it now' prices lead-in at £30 ($63.35) per person, for two nights and £39 ($82.35) per person for three nights in a standard cabin, based on double occupancy.According to EasyCruise founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou, frequently dubbed a "serial entrepreneur", the company's primary business has always come via its internet site www.easyCruise.com, "so, to link with the world's online market place is obviously a perfect fit.

Transat Holidays will offer direct flights from Toronto to Santo Domingo every Sunday from December 16, 2007 to March 23, 2008 to coincide with the sailings of Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas.  This air and sea combination will make it easier for travellers to cruise the Caribbean as they will be able to fly in on the same day that their ship sets sail.

Silk Holidays has launched a Vietnam Beach Holidays programme. The 15 days 13 nights package highlights 3 different beach destinations in Vietnam - Hoi An, Phan Thiet, and Nha Trang. Hoi An is not just a beach resort, but was also declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. Phan Thiet is the most famous beach resort in southern Vietnam and closest to Ho Chi Minh City. There is a 18-hole golf course nearby. Nha Trang beach, also known as Vietnam's Mediterranean, boasts year-round sunshine - with the least rainfall of anyplace in the country. Nha Trang's clear sea makes for ideal scuba diving and snorkeling.

Convention demand on the rise
A Pricewaterhouse Coopers report has found that demand at North American convention centers increased 2% last year and more than 18% since 2004. Total attendance at conventions and trade shows increased 3.8% between 2005 and 2006.  The study compared survey data from about 50 convention centers in North America, the record setting levels of 1999 and 2000.
