Canadians will be seeing and hearing a lot more about Orlando as the CVB rolls out a dynamic advertising and marketing programme promoting Canadian travel to the area.

LTU expands frequencies to Germany
More flights from Toronto and Vancouver
LTU International Airways is increasing the number of flights to Germany from Toronto and Vancouver in 2007. Starting May 25, 2007, LTU will offer non-stop flights from Toronto to Dusseldorf on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  Service from Vancouver will begin May 23r with three non-stop flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, as well as a non-stop flight to Munich on Tuesdays starting May 29.

Public can comment on "passport card" proposal
Border cards could cost $20
Under a new US government proposal people travelling between the US and Canada or Mexico would be able pay $20 for a new credit card-sized travel document instead of a passport. By June 2009, all US citizens will need a passport - or the new card - to re-enter the country from Canada or Mexico. Canadian and Mexican and citizens will need similar documents produced by their respective governments. The State Department proposed the card and its fee schedule on Tuesday and the public will be permitted to comment for two months before officials move ahead with production.

UK wants EU to set example
Urges timetable on CO2 emissions for carriers be brought forward
According to reports out of London, today the UK will take the lead to bring forward a timetable to make the world's major airlines pay for the cost of their pollution. At a meeting in Germany today, British ministers will apparently argue for the inclusion of airlines in the European Union's carbon dioxide emissions trading scheme within two years.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Jeff Doane to the freshly minted position of vice president, hotel sales.  Doane joins Fairmont's Corporate ranks from The Fairmont San Francisco where he most recently held the position of regional director, sales and marketing for the company's California region.Doane will be responsible for revenue generation and for overseeing the succession and career planning of Fairmont's entire North American sales force.  He will also focus his efforts on all sales and marketing activity directly related to owner relations and on leveraging the corporate sales and marketing resources to maximize revenues.

Singapore Airlines reduces fuel surcharges
Singapore Airlines will reduce fuel surcharges following the decline in fuel jet prices over recent weeks. When the surcharges began, the carrier undertook to keep the situation under review and to make adjustments in response to sustained changes in the price of jet fuel.
