| Aeroplan to members |
Use it or lose it
| Rupert Duschesne | Air Canada's popular Aeroplan rewards programme is changing - and not many users will think for the better. As of January 1, 2007 Aeroplan will start date-stamping its miles each month and any miles not redeemed within a seven year period will be deducted from members' accounts. That is deducted as in - gone - lost - disappeared - not yours anymore. Aeroplan chief executive Rupert Duchesne said of the new plan, that seven years is a long time and he doesn't expect much resistance. And, if that's not enough to worry about, also beginning next July 1, Aeroplan members must use their accounts at least once a year to keep them active. If points are not added or redeemed at least once during that time - they automatically expire.
