Twenty year company veteran to oversee Canadian operations

My Travel North America has announced the appointment of Lars Lofgren as chief operating officer for MyTravel Canada, effective November 1, 2006.

“This is a realignment of our executive structure,” said Michael Friisdahl, CEO, MyTravel North America. “We already have a very strong management team in Canada. The addition of this position is intended to drive out further synergies and opportunities within the Canadian businesses.

“We have strategic objectives for growth both here in Canada, and in the U.S., and this appointment will also enable me to focus on that growth and expansion,” said Friisdahl.

Lofgren will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Canadian businesses and operations and will also be responsible for the further development of MyTravel Canada’s eCommerce strategy. He will also identify new areas of cooperation between the Canadian business units to improve product and service.

Lofgren will report to Michael Friisdahl.

Reporting to Lofgren as of November 1, will be MyTravel’s current executive, including Andrew Dawson, president, Sunquest; Ian Rayment, president, THN; Susan Bowman, sr. vice president, Marketing; Jill Wykes, vice president Customer Service, Resort Management and Corporate Communications; John Kirk, vice president MyTravel Call Centers & Web Distribution and Paul Dorgan, vice president, MyTravel Retail.

Lofgren has been with the MyTravel Group in Northern Europe for over 20 years. He has served as finance director for Sunwing Resort & Hotels (no connection to wholesaler SunWing Vacations) , managing director, MyTravel Netherlands and most recently director of Yield Management, eCommerce for MyTravel Northern Europe, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
