Numbers rise as rules tighten

| US Passport | Americans have gone on a passport spree. Between 225,000 and 250,000 a week are applying for passports. That's up 70% over what it was just two years ago. Seems that US citizens are catching on to the fact that travel is getting tougher, according to Frank Moss, deputy assistant secretary for passport services. "The proof is in the numbers." Moss said. Washington issued about seven million passports a year as late as 2003. But the numbers have risen sharply since then. "As of earlier this week, we actually crossed the threshold of 70 million Americans fully documented with valid passports," he said.

| LOT Polish Airlines Debit Memos |

| ACTA was advised by IATA, that by close of business Friday, the majority of problematic debit memos issued on Thursday by a third party for LOT Polish Airlines has been retracted from BSP. However, should an agent have disputed a debit memo or have to deal with any of them, ACTA asks that they be advised and they will coordinate with IATA to ensure the problem is taken care of and resolved. IATA has ensured its full cooperation in this matter.

| Ad from TravelWeekly | Celebrity Cruises will no longer use a magazine advertisement depicting King Kamehameha's statue holding a glass of champagne to promote trips to Hawaii. The ad, which appeared in the US trade publication Travel Weekly, caused anger among Native Hawaiian groups who were insulted by the photo illustration. "We are terribly sorry that we have offended anyone," said Lynn Martenstein, spokeswoman for Miami-based Celebrity Cruises, a brand of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

| No tourist cards from Nolitours & Transat Holidays |

Tourist cards issued by airlines Nolitours and Transat Holidays have announced that they will no longer issue tourist cards along with travel documents for travel beginning on or after November 1. Tourist cards for all departures to sun destinations from November 1 onwards will be distributed by the airlines onboard the aircraft at the time of travel.
