WestJet adds more lift to Sun Destinations
Additional weekly flights from Toronto to Florida and the Bahamas
WestJet announced today it will offer additional seasonal non-stop service from Toronto to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Nassau, Bahamas starting January 8, 2007 until April 28, 2007. The non-stop flights between Toronto and these popular sun destinations have introductory fares starting at $109. Bookings must be made by November 22.The additional flights give Toronto ten flights per week to Fort Lauderdale, ten flights per week to Tampa and four flights per week to Nassau, Bahamas. MSC offers "Best Fare. Best Room" promotion

Noted for its "Beautiful. Passionate. Italian." European cruising, MSC Cruises is offering a special "Best Fare, Best Room" promotion in 2007. Available on Mediterranean and Northern European sailings, when booking early guests can reserve the best accommodations at the lowest price within their selected category and save as much as US$1,655 ($1897) per person on select sailings. Pricing has been simplified into categories of interior, oceanview, balcony, etc., depending on the ship. Cruise-only rates for interior category start at US$795 ($911.3) and oceanview category at US$995 ($1140.4) (prices are per person, double occupancy) on a 7-night cruise. [Full text]

Susan Bowman, senior vice president of Marketing for MyTravel North America has appointed Paul Larcher to the position of director of advertising and promotions for MyTravel Canada. Larcher comes to MyTravel from the promotional agency Armstrong Partnership Ltd, and prior to that Echo Advertising, where he held account director positions. Larcher however, is well known to both the company, and the industry, having spent 15 years (1985-2000) working for Sunquest and ALBATours in various roles in the Marketing, Sales and Groups departments. NORTHERN IRELAND NAMED TOP TRAVEL SPOT
"Must see" according to Lonely Planet Guide
Northern Ireland is being touted as a "must-see" destination to visit in 2007. The Lonely Planet Bluelist featured Northern Ireland in the "Go List" section of its guide - identifying it as a hot destination in the upcoming year. Belfast is listed as one of the top "cities on the rise". Lonely Planet co-founder Maureen Wheeler, grew up in Belfast, and commended her  hometown, "I love the city, its grittiness, its resilience and its beauty and I love how Belfast people turn every social interaction into an excuse for a party." Versace to develop luxury hotel chain
Plans 15 international "seven star" hotels

Italian fashion house Versace has teamed up with Australian property developer Sunland to build 15, 'seven-star' hotels around the world. The Australian reports that Sunland will select the location and build the hotels, which will be valued at US$1 billion each. They will operate under the Palazzo Versace brand and be modelled on the fashion house's historic Milan headquarters.Sunland and Versace initial collaboration in 1998, resulted in the first Palazzo Versace being built in Australia on Queensland's Gold Coast. Their next hotel project in Dubai, is scheduled to begin in January and to be completed in 2009. [Full text]

Crystal sets sail for Dubai

For the first time, Crystal Cruises will deploy both Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony on itineraries featuring Dubai, which the line calls 'one of the world's hottest travel destinations.' In 2007 both ships will offer a total of four cruises that begin or end in the emirate - double the number of departures over 2006. According to Bill Smith, Crystal's svp sales and marketing, said that despite the increase, "interest in the region still surpasses our expectations." [Full text]

No paper chase at Marriot
Marriott International is e-mailing hotel bills directly to guests. No longer is there a need to stop at the front desk for a paper copy,  guests simply request an e-mail folio (eFolio) when they check in and Marriott will e-mail the hotel bill within 48 hours of check-out. The bill is then available and easily accessible whenever needed for accounting and expense reporting purposes.
WestJet leads industry
WestJet is North America's most financially successful airline, leading the industry in percentage earnings. Based on reported 2006 third quarter results, WestJet's pre-tax margin is 16 %, outperforming all other North American carriers on a percentage basis. WestJet's available seat mile (ASM) growth for the third quarter was 17.3%, placing the airline among the top North American carriers for seat capacity growth.
