| Manuel Marrero | | Yesterday the Cuba tourist Board hosted a luncheon at The Westin Harbour Castle, to welcome Cuban Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero to Toronto.A group of Cuban officials, travel professionals and media had an opportunity to mingle and discuss the industry before the Minister was introduced by Cuba Tourist Board Director, Carlos Zambrano.Minister Marrero, making only his “third speech in English” said that “Canada is first, second and third in the Cuban tourism market, everyone comes after.”

US $8 Billion deal on the table US Airways has announced plans to merge with Delta Air Lines, currently operating under bankruptcy protection. The US $8 billion offer to take over and merge with Delta would dramatically change the shape of the airline industry in the US.Following US Airways ongoing merger with America West, this newly announced combination, which would operate under the Delta brand, would create one of the world's largest airlines and the largest airline in the US, accounting for approximately 18% of the country’s capacity .

| Demand for Caribbean cruising increases |

Royal Caribbean International most popular
Royal Caribbean International is the strongest among the major cruise brands, according to a monthly survey of 450 travel agents conducted by the Bank of America (BofA). The survey indicated that cruise pricing and booking trends are improving demand for Caribbean product which was on the rise for the third consecutive month in October. BofA does not perceive this trend as an indication that the Caribbean market is healthy, but only that it does not appear to be worsening.

In another major step towards the revitalization of the city, The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans is re-opening December 4, following a 15 month major renovation necessitated by the damage inflicted by Hurricane Katrina. With the completion of the US $100 million renovation just in time for the holiday season, the luxury hotel on Canal Street will showcase its new look with upgraded guest rooms, a new Club Level, a new signature restaurant called Melange and 35,000 square feet of new meetings space.
