Resort mogul Gordon 'Butch' Stewart has named his 25 year-old son, Adam Stewart, as chief executive officer of his Sandals Resorts International. Stewart, chairman of the diverse corporation, said his youngest adult son would be responsible for all areas of Sandals' operations effective immediately."In his new position, Adam will work very closely with the managing director, Mr Merrick Fray," said Stewart in a brief statement, "I look forward to a new era of growth and development for Sandals and Beaches Resorts and ask for your full support for Adam in his new position." Air Canada third quarter revenue up
But profits down from last  year
Air Canada parent ACE Aviation made a net profit including special items of $103m in the quarter ending 30 September compared with $271m last year. This year's result included a charge of $102m in connection with Air Canada's obligations for the redemption of Aeroplan loyalty miles issued before 2002, a $52m gain on the sale of 1.25m shares in US Airways and foreign exchange losses of $3m. Hilton Hotels 'Be Hospitable' philosophy becomes kid's book
Founder's philosophy lives on
Children's book author and illustrator, Todd Parr, has teamed with Hilton Hotels to turn Conrad Hilton's  "Be Hospitable" philosophy into an illustrated book for youngsters. "Conrad Hilton's philosophy is the inspiration for the company's overarching message of kindness and generosity," said Mary Beth Parks, Hilton's vice president of marketing. "With Parr's wonderfully whimsical illustrations, we are able to communicate our values to kids with the hope that they will be inspired to be as hospitable at home, in school and with their family and friends as they are when reading this book." Hilton is donating 10,000 copies of Parr's "Be Hospitable" children's book to the Books for Kids Foundation and Reach Out and Read, two non-profit organizations. [Full text]

Canadian agents on a fam to the Emerald Isle

27 Maritime Travel agents from Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Atlantic Canada joined Trafalgar Tours Business Development Manager for Quebec and Atlantic Canada, Sandra Gardiner, on a whirlwind tour of the Emerald Isle. The tour began in Dublin on November 04 and ended November 11. The group travelled on to Galway on the west coast where they visited Galway Castle before crossing County Clare to Limerick. In Limerick the agents enjoyed a medieval dinner at Bunratty Castle before continuing on to the village of Adare which is one of Ireland's most beautiful villages en-route to the lakes of Killarney to Kenmare. Caribbean airlift increases
The Caribbean Tourism Organization says airlift frequency and capacity to the Caribbean have increased in the past year reflecting airlines' confidence in the Caribbean and its attractiveness to visitors.The increased service has made intra-Caribbean, island-hopping travel easier for travellers allowing them to experience multiple destinations during a single trip to the region.
Windstar names International sales manager
Marnie Whipple joined Windstar Cruises as manager of international sales and key accounts. She most recently worked as international sales manager for Gray Line of Alaska managing top-producing domestic travel agencies and international tour operators. Whipple started her career at HAL in 1996 in reservations and worked her way up through the sales department before leaving in 2000.
