“Sensationalist” stories condemned
 |
| Cesar Casteñeda | The major tour operators unanimously condemned stories that appeared in some Toronto newspapers yesterday that warned, “Violence is escalating throughout Mexico.” The MexicoTourist Board and the Canadian tour operators speak with one voice on this – "IT IS NOT." He likened them to the ongoing problems in Caledonia, Ontario where there are protesters, a police presence, demonstrations and occasional violence. “That does not prevent visitors coming to Canada,” he pointed out, “or even to Toronto. Like Caledonia, this is a problem confined to one small area in a very large country, it is irresponsible to suggest anything else.”
