Airline expects normal operations
In November this year, CAW members employed by Transat subsidiary, Handlex at Toronto's Pearson Airport, voted 97% in favour of strike action. The strike deadline is December 14. Handlex provides airport ground services for Air Transat at Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver International airports. Services include passenger reception and check-in, baggage- and cargo-handling, aircraft cleaning and ramp services. Handlex has approximately 1,200 employees.

| Travelport CEO Jeff Clarke | | GDS consolidation has taken a major step forward with plans for Galileo to merge with Worldspan in a US$1.4 billion deal. Galileo owner Travelport is to acquire the rival GDs subject to regulatory approvals. The initial integration focus will be on consolidating technology and administrative operations resulting in "near-term" cost savings of approximately US$50 million, according to Travelport. The companies see opportunities to cross-sell Worldspan's technology products to Travelport's global customer base and intend that Worldspan will enhance Travelport's technology platform, in particular in the online distribution segment. More than 750 travel suppliers and 63,000 travel agencies use the two companies.

Florida Seminole Tribe buys popular restaurant brand
The Rank Group in the UK has reached an agreement with the Seminole Tribe of Florida, to sell the Hard Rock business for US$965 million. The Tribe already owns two casino resorts in south Florida - in Hollywood and Tampa. The deal, which is expected to close in March 2007, will give the Seminoles ownership of 68 Hard Rock Cafe Restaurants and retail stores, including 44 in the United States, three in Canada, 17 throughout Europe, three in Australia and one in Puerto Rico.
