| Bruce Hodge | | This month, TRAVELHotNews.com takes a sneak peek into the life and views of Bruce Hodge, Goway Travel’s founder & president. Growing up in a small town halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, Hodge describes Nambucca Hedge as “probably one of the most beautiful places on earth.
A sleepy little town at the head of the Nambucca River, it was the last place south [on the globe] that grew bananas. It was a small town and it was beautiful,” Hodge recalled. “We had a banana plantation, and I used to go to school without any shoes. I used to leave the house with shoes on, and halfway to school I would take them off and would hide them in the bushes. CITC hosts Eastern and Western Canada validation meetings to ratify occupational standards for travel counsellors

| The participants of the Eastern Canada validation meeting | | CITC recently held Eastern and Western Canada validation meetings to ratify the recommended changes to the occupational standards for travel counsellors. The update to the standards will mean that the evaluations used for certification will require updating this year as well. CITC will be busy ensuring that all aspects of the travel counsellor certification program are reviewed to reflect the information.

Australia hopes to entice Canadian graduates to visit with 12 month working holiday visas Canadian Press
Australian tourism officials hope to convince Canadian university and college students of the benefits of spending a year Down Under after graduating this spring, saying the experience could improve their future job prospects back home. Australia's working holiday visa allows Canadians aged 18 to 30 to work and live in Australia for up to 12 months. They can pursue any job opportunity, from bartending, working on an outback ranch to becoming a scuba diving instructor. They can also study for up to four months in Australia. Keep reading for more.

SIR ELTON HEADS BACK TO HOLY LAND Grammy Award-winning singer, Sir Elton John, will perform in Israel on June 27, 2010. This makes it the musician's first concert in Israel in 17 years. The concert will take place at Ramat Gam Stadium in Tel Aviv, following performances by Matisyahu and Metallica this year.
