TRAVEL COUNSELLORS SETS GLOBAL SALES RECORD Travel Counsellors (TC) had its best-ever selling day and beat seven of the company’s top 10 sales days this January. The company beat all previous sales records on Friday Jan. 15, 2010, achieving a global sales total of C$3.17 million, beating the previous best day of C$2.59 million in January 2008 by 22%, and achieving the fastest million in the company’s history. TC went on to achieve its second-best ever sales day on Monday Jan. 18, 2010 with sales of C$2.69 million. The company has reported seven of its top 10 sales days in history this January. |

Initially launched for the Marlin Travel brand, Transat Distribution Canada will soon launch PURLs for their remaining network brands, including the introduction of a French version for the Club Voyages network.

INVASION OF THE BODY SCANNERS AT YYZ The Toronto Star has reported this morning that at least one full-body scanner is up and running at Pearson International Airport. It has not yet been confirmed at which terminal the full-body scanner is located at. According to the newspaper’s travel editor Jim Byers, there was only one lineup with the machine, with people stepping into a large, glass-enclosed unit and raising their hands in the air. Byers noted that nobody appeared to object and the lineup seemed to be moving normally. |
