OTTAWA’S SKATING SEASON BEGINS Ottawa's Rideau Canal Skateway officially opened on Wednesday, launching the 40th season of organized ice skating on the world’s largest naturally frozen skating rink. A 4.3 km section of the 7.8 km Rideau Canal Skateway opened at 8 a.m. The Canal is also the focal point for Ottawa’s annual Winterlude festival (winterlude.gc.ca) taking place from Feb. 5 to 21, 2010. |

ISRAEL MAKES WORLD’S LARGEST HUMMUS A new Guinness World Record was set for the largest serving of hummus last week in the multi-cultural village of Abu Ghosh near Jerusalem, Israel. The record-breaking hummus dish weighed 8,992 pounds and was spread into a 20-foot satellite dish, beating the previous Guinness World Record set in Lebanon two months earlier. The event was organized by Jawdat Ibrahim, owner of the Abu Ghosh restaurant, and presided over by Guinness judge Jack Brookbank. |

UAL Corporation, parent company of United Airlines, announced today that it has named Thomas (Tom) F. O’Toole senior vice president, chief marketing officer. In his new role, O’Toole will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s marketing, e-commerce, contact center and merchandising strategies. He will start later this month, reporting to Jeff Foland, senior vice president – Worldwide Sales and Marketing.

Exotik Tours hosts FAM for 20 Canadian travel agents in Tunisia
Exotik Tours recently hosted 20 travel agents from across Canada to experience the country of Tunisia in North Africa. The agents had the opportunity to get an in-depth look at the highlights of Tunisia, including the capital Tunis, the historic sites of Carthage and El Jem, the towns of Sidi Bou Said and Monastir, as well as the desert experiences of the Sahara.
