Transport Canada says travellers can bring “common sense” carry-on articles on flights to the United States despite a list suggesting only 13 approved items are permitted, reported the Globe and Mail. The list – which includes small purses, laptops, coats and medication – left travellers confused about whether they could take other things, such as books, iPods and computer cases. NIGERIAN INDICTED IN U.S.
A grand jury indicted a Nigerian man on Wednesday on charges of attempting to blow up a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines plane on Christmas Day by trying to use a weapon of mass destruction. The federal grand jury also charged Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab with attempted murder, possession of a firearm and other counts. Authorities say Abdulmutallab, 23, was travelling to Detroit from Amsterdam when he tried to blow up the plane carrying nearly 300 people by injecting chemicals into a package of pentrite explosive concealed in his underwear. The failed attack caused popping sounds and flames that passengers and crew rushed to extinguish.
DISNEY GIVES A DAY
Volunteer Canada is working with Disney Parks to make 2010 the year to realize those goals and make volunteering a family resolution. Beginning on January 1, 2010, Disney Parks officially launched “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day,” a first-of-its-kind initiative with the help of HandsOn Network and Volunteer Canada. Through the program, Disney Parks hopes to inspire one million people to perform a day of volunteering for a participating organization in 2010, by giving them a free, one-day admission ticket to a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park.  Visit DisneyParks.ca to sign up.
